Smoking at the entrance to an apartment building: what does the law say?

Can I smoke on the stairs of a high-rise apartment building? Similar questions are asked not only by smokers but also by neighbors who oppose smoking. The Law on Civil Protection, which prohibits the smoking of tobacco products in all public places, has undergone some changes.

According to the amendments, smokers are not allowed to smoke in high-rise buildings.

The main provisions of the anti-tobacco law

no smoking at the entrance

Is it possible to smoke at the entrances and elevators of residential buildings? The law, which restricts smoking in public places, aims to protect the rights of non-smokers. Tobacco smoke from smoking has a negative impact on the health of people who do not suffer from nicotine addiction.

What were the reasons for the law banning smoking in crowded places?

Terrible statistics on anti-tobacco measures taken at the state level:

  • More than 40% of people suffer from nicotine addiction;
  • Approximately 400, 000 people die each year from smoking-related cancers and other diseases;
  • Tobacco smoke causes cancer by negatively affecting the health of passive smokers.

For the above reasons, the Ministry of Health proposed to draft a law banning smoking, at least in areas where citizens spontaneously gather:

  • in universities and schools;
  • playgrounds and sports grounds;
  • cafes and hotels;
  • airports and train stations;
  • aprons and parking lots;
  • government agencies and hospitals;
  • air and land transport;
  • trade and household enterprises;
  • workplaces and transport stops;
  • seaports and trains.

Clearly, the list of places where smokers are banned to meet their nicotine needs is very long. Therefore, from time to time, they again violate the law and then commit illegal acts with administrative responsibility.
